• DCET gets degree awarding status

ISLAMABAD (October 01, 2010): National Assembly on Thursday passed 'The Degree Awarding Status to Dawood College of Engineering and Technology Karachi.
The 45-clause Bill was moved by Education Minister Sardar Asif Ahmed Ali. As there were no proposed amendments on any of the clauses of the bill.

President Pervaiz Musharraf has announced the fifteen members of senate for Dawood College of Engineering Technology. These members has been announced for three years, according to which the chairman of senate will be President Pervaiz Musharraf as Chancellor , while principal of Dowood College of Engineering Technology Dr. Muhammad Nasim, Federal additional Secretary of education Shahid Ahmad, one member of higher education commission are included in members. Amongst the other members are, four representatives of civil society including Sohail Wajahat chief executive officer Seimens Karachi, Sohail Ahmad from Automotive industry, Dr. Khalid aftab , vice Chancellor Women college university Lahore and Architect. Perveen Rehman. Dr. Noman Ahmad, Chairman, Department of Architecture and Planning NED University of Engineering , Karachi, has been nominated as an alumni member while educational representatives include rector of Gulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering and Technology, Prof. Fazal Ahmad Khalid and Director Fast, Dr. Zubair Ahmad. Four members from Dowood College of Engineering Technology are Maula Bakhsh Sheikh, Prof. Ashfaq Ali, Dr. Yar Wali Janka and Architect. Yasira Naeem Pasha.

• National Curriculum Revision Committee Meeting

National Curriculum Revision Committee meeting was arranged by HEC in Karachi, Regional Office. The committee was able to make a preliminary draft for the approval by HEC, Islamabad. Participants from all architectural institutions of Pakistan attended the meeting. Representatives from Department of Architecture, (DCET) included, Architect. Asif Nawaz and Architect. Yasira Naeem Pasha.
